Funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education

We have received financial support, for an investment related to scientific activity, within the Call No. 6 organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (PL). The awarded funds will be used to purchase an advanced system for super-resolution imaging of (bio)molecular systems, as well as photothermal and scattering nanospectroscopy.

The total cost of the investment amounts to PLN 7,798,200, of which PLN 7,425,000 is funded by the Ministry. This class of infrastructure will significantly strengthen the research potential of our group and expand the scope of studies conducted at the interface of biophysics and nanotechnology.

The planned instrumentation combines atomic force microscopy with advanced infrared spectroscopy techniques (AFM-IR, s-SNOM, and TERS). This integration enables not only imaging of structures with nanometer resolution but also simultaneous mapping of the chemical properties of the investigated samples. In practice, this allows for precise identification of functional groups and analysis of molecular composition at the level of individual nanostructures.

The new scientific infrastructure opens up the prospect for materials science and biophysical research, both in vitro and in more complex biological environments. It will enable experiments that have so far remained beyond reach due to instrumental limitations, particularly in the context of simultaneously studying the structure, dynamics, and function of (bio)molecular systems.

The implementation of the project will contribute to the development of modern analytical methods and strengthen the team’s position in international research at the intersection of nanotechnology, chemistry, and biophysics.
